Warringah's best result ever!
Warringah Concert Brass and Warringah Youth Brass competed in the National Band Championships over the Easter weekend with huge success!
The senior band competed in Open A Grade against 13 other bands from around Australia and was placed a very pleasing 4th. This is Warringah’s best result ever in an A Grade National Championships with a total score of 479. The band was placed 4th overall; however we were delighted to be placed 1st in the Stage March and 3rd in the Own Choice selection. Months of hard work from players and our dedicated MD, John Saunders, have seen Warringah Concert Brass climb back to the top of A Grade and we couldn’t be happier! Congratulations must go to Gunnedah Shire Band who placed 1st, Kew Band Melbourne 2nd and City of Holroyd Band in 3rd position.
Warringah Youth Brass took to the stage as the only band in their section (Junior B Grade). However they have proved once again that they are a strong, talented group of youngsters who indeed deserve to be recognised as Australia’s top B Grade Junior band. Many thanks to the parents who have given their time and support to the kids. Look out Junior A grade!
The solo competition saw some great results from both the junior and senior bands.
Most outstanding results on the day included:
Steven English – 1st – Open Soprano Cornet
Scott Frankcombe – 1st – Open Bb Tuba
Vaughan Price – 2nd – Open Flugel Horn
Matthew Hurditch – 2nd – Junior Euphonium
Jeremy Lloyd – 1st – Junior Baritone

Congratulations to everyone who participated over the weekend; we had some great results and look forward to another successful year ahead!

Great start to 2009
The first rehearsal for 2009 saw Warringah Concert Brass combine with Warringah Youth Brass in preparation for the annual Beacon Hill Australia Day celebration.
WCB’s social secretary Colin Burrows, organised an “Australia” theme for the first get-together with some interesting entries.
The majority of both bands made the effort, with the stand-out winner of the best Aus look being Max from the Youth Band, creating the “Mini Me” look with organiser, Colin Burrows.
