Jubilant WCB players celebrate their Championship win!

Against a tough field of 10 bands from around Australia, Warringah Concert Brass produced performances of a very high standard to win the B-grade section of the Australasian Brass Band Championships held in Newcastle over the Easter weekend of 2003.
The Big Three of Australia's B-grade brass bands proved they are candidates for a return to the top A-grade with quality performances. Warringah Concert Brass, Sutherland Shire and Hall Village dominated playing in the Conservatorium. But it was the consistently high standard of musicianship of Warringah's 30 players across all four pieces of music which enabled Musical Director, John Saunders, to hold aloft the band's Championship trophy.
John, himself a champion euphonium player, wrote another great page in the band's 25 year history by leading the band to a winning performance of the Hymn (In Perfect Peace) and coming second in the Test (The Plantagenets) and Own Choice (Brass Metamorphosis), and third in the Stage March (The Contestor).
