Phil Wilson
Phil joined Edward Gregson as a raw 18 year old on the Euphonium bench of Tottenham Citadel Band (UK) in 1966. It was soon realised that Phil would never make a great Eupho player and a move was made to Horn. Following 20 years as the band's Solo Horn which included the name change to Enfield Citadel, many overseas tours, recordings, two Royal Albert Hall performances and a couple of guest appearances with the ISB Phil emigrated with his wife & family to Australia in January 1989 and joined Sydney Congress Hall Band. Phil was delighted to tour the UK with SCH Band which included another Albert Hall performance under Ron Prussing. Before coming to Australia one of Phil's greatest banding highlights was playing Resurgam with Eric Ball when it was first published by The Salvation Army. Of course, Phil greatest banding mentor was Bandmaster James Williams who modelled the kind of commitment and discipline required to be a good bandsman. Phil's main banding aim now is to put something back into the movement which has given him so much.
